Consumer Protection Notice | Contractor Financing Solutions

Consumer Protection Commitment

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

Contractor Financing Solutions is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of financial transparency, ethical lending practices, and fair treatment for all property owners and borrowers. Undertaking home improvement, renovation, and contracting projects involves significant investments, and we believe financing these services should always be transparent, accessible, and free from deceptive practices.

Regulatory Role & Entity Notice: Contractor Financing Solutions is a point-of-sale customer financing technology platform and referral service, not a depository bank, credit card issuer, or direct lender. All final credit decisions, terms, interest rates, and loan disbursements are executed solely by regulated third-party lending partners.

Truth in Lending & Clear Loan Disclosures

We work exclusively with participating lenders who adhere strictly to the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and Regulation Z. Before signing any binding loan agreement, borrowers are provided with comprehensive, written disclosures that detail:

  • Annual Percentage Rate (APR): The complete yearly cost of credit, including interest and applicable finance charges.
  • Finance Charges: The dollar amount the credit will cost you over the entire loan term.
  • Amount Financed: The specific sum provided to you or funded on your behalf toward your contractor project.
  • Total of Payments: The exact total amount you will have paid once all scheduled payments are completed.
  • Payment Schedule: The frequency, due dates, and exact monthly dollar amounts for all scheduled repayments.

Equal Credit Opportunity and Fair Lending

We support fair lending principles in accordance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Regulation B. Our platform and network lending partners prohibit discrimination in any aspect of a credit transaction based on:

  • Race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, or age (provided the applicant has the capacity to contract);
  • The fact that all or part of the applicant’s income derives from any public assistance program; or
  • The good-faith exercise of any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.

Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Compliance

Preliminary pre-qualification inquiries initiated through our platform use “soft credit inquiries” where available, which do not impact your credit score. If you choose to accept a formal loan offer, the underwriting lender will perform a standard “hard inquiry,” which may appear on your credit file. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to:

  • Know what information is in your credit report.
  • Dispute incomplete or inaccurate information directly with credit reporting bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion).
  • Receive an Adverse Action Notice from the lender detailing specific reasons if your credit application is modified or declined.

Contractor Merchant Conduct & Prohibited Tactics

Contractors utilizing the Contractor Financing Solutions platform to present financing options to customers are required to adhere to our Merchant Code of Conduct. Contractors are strictly prohibited from:

  • Submitting financing applications or credit inquiries on behalf of a homeowner without explicit, written consent.
  • Misrepresenting loan terms, interest rates, promotional zero-percent terms, or deferred interest rules.
  • Utilizing high-pressure sales tactics or tying service pricing to the use of a specific financing option.
  • Falsifying contractor invoices, project milestones, completion certificates, or scope-of-work documentation.

Recognizing and Preventing Predatory Practices

Borrowers should remain vigilant against deceptive trade and financing practices. Warning signs include:

  • Contractors asking you to sign blank or incomplete financing documents.
  • Promises that interest rates or loan terms “do not matter” because terms will be refinanced later.
  • Demands for full upfront payment via loan disbursements before work has begun or required permits have been pulled.
  • Contractors offering to inflate project estimates to provide cash-back rebates from loan proceeds.

Filing Inquiries, Complaints, or Reporting Violations

If you believe a contractor or participating lender using our platform has engaged in misleading, unethical, or non-compliant conduct, contact our compliance team immediately. We review and investigate merchant violations promptly:
